Squash Match

I saw this video on ESPN the other night, and I laughed so hard. Since then, it has been all over TV drawing criticism. It's the Squash championships between little Trinity College and Yale.

I've never splayed squash before, and I actually thought it was called racquetball (maybe they are different??), but apparently it gets pretty intense. Sometimes old men at the gym are literally dripping in sweat after a rousing game of squash, but I thought that was just because they were like 75 years old. Apparently I was wrong.

The funny thing in this video is the little Asian kid (Kenneth Tran, how fitting) on Yale's team. No surprise he's Asian, but if you watch his reaction after losing it's hard not to laugh. Tran is like 5 ft. tall, and gets punked by the giant kid. He not only outweighs the small Asian by like 100 lbs. but finds the need to scream in his face, headbutt him, slam the door on him, then get in his face again. People all over the internet are saying this is bad sportsmanship, but I think it is hilarious and applaud this kid's enthusiasm to not just beat the opposition, but to shit on them after. Well done.

If you think Squash is a bloodless sport, then check out what happened at a recent Dartmouth vs. Harvard Match...

"Words such as “dick,” “fag” and “—-sucker” were repeatedly shouted at the visitors Wednesday, many times with “f——” added as an adjective. Harvard’s female players eventually sought the protection of an assistant coach after they said they were called “whores” and “sluts” while they cheered on their male peers. While playing his match, Franklin Cohen was told he had small genitals and asked if he liked bagels, a phrase his mother viewed as a reference to the family’s Jewish surname."

In addition, I'm willing to bet that at least 80% of squash players are Asian. Just a hunch.

It's been a couple weeks since my last post... I've been really busy lately, especially with the addition to the family. No, I did not have a child... but as most of you already know, I got a dog. Dogs are sweet, they are great friends and are very loyal. What more could you ask for.

She loves to meet new people, so come check her out.

Super Bowl Commercials

Congrats to the New Orleans Saints for winning the Super Bowl! Naturally, the commercials for the Super Bowl are as anticipated as the actual game and although I didn't see too many good ones this year, here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy.

I liked this one cuz I'm sure we can all relate to it...

Thought this was a sweet commercial that captured a lot of cool events...

Worst Commercials were for sure the GoDaddy commercials... Waste of $3 million.

In Lieu of the Super Bowl... WHO DAT? Colts running back Joseph Addai or MLK??

Things Asians Like #1 - Bowl Cuts

If any Asian dude looks at their pictures from Ages 8-11, then they will most likely be donning a fresh bowl cut. Bowl cuts are synonymous with Asian culture, hence I think all Asians had a bowl cut at one time in their lives, either that or a rat tail (I was lucky enough to have both). In fact, urban dictionary describes the hairstyle as “a haircut usually worn by Asian men” and the sentence they use is “Look that Jap has a bowl cut.” Hilarious.

Yes, I once rocked a bowl cut and I loved that shit. I used to part it right down the middle and even worse, I would lift up the hair that draped down and shave underneath… so bad ass. I even remember once having my bowl cut reach my eyes and I actually thought that was cool. I think I might try to bring the bowl cut back…

My mother must not have taken too many pics from what I like to cut “my bowl cut years,” but luckily my friend Rudy was nice enough to dig out this portrait of himself… This is classic, notice how the bowl cut is well matched with the denim jacket…

Sick Beats

Every once in awhile, I'll add in some good music to my posts. Not very exciting, I know, but these are some sweet electro beats...

WARNING: These aren't like pop electro like Lady Gaga, they're like "Pop some extacy" electro.. thought I'd put it on my workout playlist and see how it goes.

TV Guide

It’s time to get LOST… literally.

The final season of Lost is about to start today… and thank god it is the last season. It mystifies me how they stretched this show into 6 seasons… not because it’s a bad show, it’s actually pretty good, but the story line was not made for 6 seasons.

I was an avid Lost watcher from season one. The storyline and the cast were awesome (Evangeline Lilly is SO sexy), but then it was as if the writers of the show were like “oh shit, they actually like this show. What do we do with the plot now?”

There were so many unanswered questions to the show, like what was with the 4 toed statue? The polar bear? The numbers that had to be entered repeatedly? The black fog? I know they tried to answer some of these, but are you really gonna tell me that “the Others” were able to control a black smoke by flipping a switch? Give me a break.

I stopped watching the show a few seasons ago when they incorporated a time machine and teleportation. I might be Asian, but I don’t like that Sci Fi bullshit, and I thought this made the story line completely unbelievable so I called it quits. I was literally LOST.

Recently to my surprise, I’ve heard from lots of avid LOST watchers that the show is worth a second chance. I'm gonna rewatcha few episodes and watch tonight... I'm hoping this show goes out with a bang.

The class of the new TV season is not LOST, however. That honor would go to two newcomers, Underbelly (Direct TV's 101 network) and Spartacus (Starz).

I’ve been looking forward to these shows for quite some time now, and they have finally arrived. Underbelly is ready to debut on Wednesday, February 3 and will air every Wednesday at 9pm Central.

Underbelly has been called "the Australian Sopranos" and is based on real events in Melbourne, Victoria, between 1995 and 2004. It tells the story of the gangland war, known as the Melbourne gangland killings, between rival factions of Melbourne's criminal underworld. It’s basically a television adaptation of the movie Blow, so I can’t wait.

Spartacus looks like the movie Gladiator in a mini series. I watched the pilot episode (one of the few perks to having DirectTV) and I was pretty impressed. Not only did it resemble a softcore porn with the amount of nudity in it, the fight scenes were intense. It's your typical Gladiator story... dude's family gets captured/killed and he is forced into slavery. blah blah blah he's forced to fight as a Gladiator and instead of going down like a chump, he kicks ass. Sounds good to me... it's worth a chance.
